He was the son of William and Emma Forbes and the brother of Edward and Gladys Forbes. They lived at 19 Clarence Street St Ann's Nottingham in 1911 and later at 1 Bay Terrace Clarence Street.
Private Ernest Forbes, Worcestershire Yeomanry, died in Alexandria, on 4th June 1918. He is buried in Deir El Belah War Cemetery, Egypt.
In memoriam published 4th June 1919 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “FORBES. – In ever-loving memory of our dear son and brother, who died on June 4th, 1918, Alexander Hospital, Egypt.
