Family History

Fred Pinkett was born in 1892 at Nottingham, he was the son of Samuel a hosiery trimmer and Elizabeth Pinkett née Boot and the brother of Gertrude Pinkett. His father Samuel was born in 1849 , his mother Elizabeth Boot was born in 1850 both were born in Bulwell, they were married on 6th June 1870 at St John’s church at Bulwell they went on to have 10 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood. In 1911 the family lived at 22 Chelmsford Road Old Basford, Nottingham Samuel 62 yrs is a hosiery trimmer, he is living with his wife Elizabeth 61 yrs and two of their children, Gertrude 21 yrs a hosiery machinist and Fred 19 yrs a hosiery trimmer.

Military History

Private Fred Pinkett enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died on 28th November 1917, age 26 and is buried at Etaples Military Cemetery. Private Fred Pinkett, served with the 1st Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, died of wounds on 28th November 1917. He is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery.
