Family History

Walter married Emma Astill (born 11th October 1892 Plumtree) on 3rd August 1915 at St Marys Church Plumtree. Emma brought a child to the marriage William Storer Astill born 25th March 1914, they went on to have another child, Walter Douglas Haig Huyton born 3rd July 1916 they lived at Plumtree village. Following his death his widow was awarded a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week which commenced on 14th April 1919, his widow later lived at High Street, Old Basford, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Walter Huyton enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Plumtree, he initially served with the service number 16726 with the Army Cyclist Corps, he was killed in action on 27th September 1918 whilst serving with the 2/7th battalion The King's (Liverpool Regiment. He is buried at Anneux British Cemetery grave reference 1.B.4
