Family History

Clarence Henry Austin was born in 1893 the son of the late Henry Austin and Mary Ann Austin née Husbands. Henry was born in 1867 in the Shardlow area and died in 1897 aged 30. Mary Ann Husbands was born in 1872 at Radford. They were married in 1892 at Nottingham. On the 1911 census, Clarence was living with his 75 year old grandfather Joseph Husbands and sister Mary Ann Tipler, a blouse machinist who had re-married, at 8, Pleasant Place, Derby Street, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. Clarence Henry married Lucy Wallis Cullen in 1915 in the Basford Registration District. They lived at 21 Dallas Yorke Road, Beeston.

Military History

Clarence Henry Austin enlisted at Nottingham, landing in France on 9th September 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
