Harry Foster was the only child of William Foster and Mary Jane Wilson Butterworth who married at Nottingham in 1882. They lived at: 93 Norton Street, Radford [C.1891]; 17 Garfield Road, Radford [C.1901 & N.E.P 12.12.1917]. William Foster, who worked as a tailor, may have died at Nottingham, in 1917, when he would have been 62. Mary Jane Foster died, aged 68 in 1926, when she was still living at 17 Garfield Road.
Pte. Foster enlisted at Derby; initially served with the Sherwood Foresters [Service No.61452]. He was killed in action and as his body was not recovered his name was commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, West Vlaanderen, Belgium.
