Arthur Sykes Darby

Arthur Sykes Darby was the son of George Sykes Darby and Emma Windley who married at Nottingham in 1891. Among their children were: Leonard Sykes (b.1894), Arthur Sykes (b.1896), Doris (b.1899), Hubert (b.1901) and George (b.1904). Emma Darby died at Nottingham, aged 35, in 1909. George Darby then married Elizabeth Needham at Nottingham in 1910. Among the Darby family homes were: 14 Parkinson Street, Nottingham [C.1891]; 134 Salisbury Street, Radford [C.1911]; 48 Garfield Road, Radford [Army records/1919]. George Darby’s second wife, Elizabeth, died at Nottingham, aged 52, in 1921. In 1922 George Sykes Darby married Ann Hardy at Nottingham. By trade a wheelwright, George Sykes Darby died at Nottingham, aged 65, in 1930. His third wife, Elizabeth, outlived him, dying at Nottingham, aged 85, in 1946. On 16 October 1915 Arthur Sykes Darby married Caroline Goss at Radford All Souls Church. There were no children. Caroline Darby’s addresses were given as 134 Salisbury Street, Radford [undated Army records] and 40 Salisbury Street, Radford [Army records/1918 & 1919].
