He was the son of Emanuel and Selina Lockley and the brother of Winifred, Vernon, May, Kate and Percy Lockley of Brookdale Road Sutton in Ashfield.

Military History

Private Gordon Lockley, enlisted at Sutton in Ashfield on 2nd September 1914. He served with the 7th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he died on 23rd July 1916 from wounds received in action on 14th July 1916. He is buried in Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-L'Abbe.He is buried in Heilly Station Cemtery, Mericourt-L'Abbe (grave ref. II.C.36). In the same grave are buried Pte H Noble, Royal West Kent Regiment, and Pte J Sanders, South Lancashire Regiment, both of whom were killed on 22 July 1916.
