Family History

He was the son of Mary Browne and the late Reverend SB Browne (CWGC). He was the brother of Mary, Eleanor, Montague Bernard and Harriet Browne.In 1891 they lived at The Rectory, Plumtree, Nottinghamshire. Mary Browne later moved to Rutland House, North Collingham, Nottinghamshire. He was the husband of Joan EL Browne who applied for his medals on 28 October 1919 giving addresses of South Collingham Hall, Newark, and The Royal Park Hotel, Hyde Park, London. His older brother, Second Lieutenant Montague Bernard Browne, died in hospital on 28 April 1916 of wounds received two days earlier in Dublin during the Easter Rising.

Military History

He served in Gallipoli from 9 August 1915. He was killed in action nr. Suvla Bay, Gallipoli, and is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Turkey. Qualified for the 1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal. He is buried in Green Hill Cemetery, Sulva Gallipoli. grave reference 2.B.3 ,
