Henry was born at Gringley on the Hill in 1886 to Charles and Louisa Freebury (nee Wilson ) his father was a labourer at Morriss' chemical works and they lived at Clarence Cottage in Misterton. He had five siblings, Betsy Ann born 1869,Alice born 1879, William born 1881 Charles Wilson born 1884 and Arthur born 1889. He was married to Mirian Alvy who was a local girl at Misterton in 1912 .They had one daughter Frances Vera who was born in 1913 and lived on High Street, Misterton
Henry enlisted on 21st June 1915 and served with the Royal Army Medical Corp and while serving on board the Hospital ship Britannic ( a sister ship to the Titanic ) was killed on 21st November 1916 .The ship was struck by a mine laid by the submarine U73 in the Zea channel of the Aegean Sea and eventually sank off the coast of the Greek Island of Kea, most of the 1066 crew and passengers survived the sinking, alas Henry was one of only 30 who drowned.
