Arthur was born at West Stockwith in 1899, he was the son of William Bennett and Mary Charman (nee Ward ) his father worked as a cooper in the local Morris' Chemical Works. In the 1911 census the family are shown living at Beulah Lodge, Trent Side, West Stockwith

Military History

He enlisted into the Army at East Retford, he was killed in action and his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial, France
