Family History

Wilfred was born at Salford, Lancashire, in 1887, a son of John William (a Sherriff’s Officer) and Jane Ann Baggaley. He was one of nine children, only four of whom survived infancy or early childhood. Wilfred was a widower when he married Muriel Gertrude Bowker in Salford on 5th December 1908. His given occupation was process-server. He and Muriel were living in Manchester in 1911 with their infant daughter. Wilfred was a furniture broker. They were living at 29 Park Street, Sutton, when Wilfred enlisted (in Sutton).

Military History

He was killed in action on 1st August 1918.
