He was the son of Joseph and Millicent Kilbourne and the brother of William, Gladys, Phyllis, Fanny, Levinia, Joseph, Alfred, George and Bernard Kilbourne. They lived at 26 Lambert Street Hyson Green Nottingham.
Private Leslie Kilbourne, 20th Battalion Durham Light Infantry, was killed in action on 21st September 1917. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial (Panel 128 to 131 and 162 and 162A.)
In memoriam published 21st September 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “KILBOURNE. – In loving memory of Pte. Leslie Kilbourne, D.L.I., killed in action September 21st, 1917. A loving brother, a faithful friend, one of the best that God could send. Ever in our thoughts. – His loving sisters Gladys, Livinia, and brother-in-law Harold in France. “KILBOURNE. – In loving memory of Pte. Leslie Kilbourne, killed in action September 21st, 1917.
