John lived at 3 Brookfield Road, Arnold he was born Joseph Hollingworth Jordan in Hyson Green, Nottingham in 1890 the only son of Joseph and Elizabeth Jordan(nee Arden ). In the 1901 Cencus the family are living at Rochdale Terrace, Hyson Green. By the 1911 census the family are living at 1 Bateman Street, Hyson Green , John is shown as being 22 yrs , and his future wife Mary Foster is a visitor at the address. He was married to his wife Mary Foster on 12th January 1912 and went on to have 2 children Daisy b1912 and May b1914. He worked for Mr R Clower and Sons cab proprietors of Daybrook .
Private John Jordan enlisted in August 1915 in Nottingham and was sent to Salonika in the Balkans as a driver in the 708th Company of the Army Service Corps. He developed a severe attack of pneumonia and dysentry from which he subsequently died on 24th October 1918 . He leaves a widow (daughter of John Foster of Brookfield Road) and two children. He is buried in the Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece
Death notice published 9th November 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- “JORDAN. – Driver J. H. Jordan (Ikey), the beloved son of J. and E. Jordan, who died in hospital abroad after three days' illness.
