Walter Edward Ellis

Walter was born at Eakring near Newark in Nottinghamshire in 1886, the eldest son of Thomas a coal miner and Rose Alice Ellis née Hinkley of Nix Cottages, Redhill, Arnold, Nottingham. His father Thomas was born in 1863 in Carlton Le Morland, Lincolnshire and his mother Rose Alice Hinkley was born in 1865 in Barmby, Nottinghamshire, they were married in 1884 in Newark and went on to have 5 children, Walter Edward b1886 in Eakring, Annie b1890 Arnold, Rebecca b1891 Arnold, Rose Alice b1893 Arnold and Thomas b1896 Arnold . In the 1911 Census his family are living at Nix House, Redhill, Arnold, and are shown as Thomas 48 yrs a coal miner, he is living with his wife Rose Alice 46 yrs and their children , Annie 21 yrs a laundry maid at Daybrook , Rebecca 20 yrs a cotton winder, Rose Alice 18 yrs a laundry maid at Daybrook and Thomas 15 yrs of age, coal garner (underground). He was married to Annie Bembridge at Daybrook on 25th May 1909 and she is shown as living at Redhill, Nottingham .They had 2 children Walter Edward born 1910 and Rose Frances born 1910 both born at Redhill, Arnold. Meanwhile in the 1911 census Walter Edward is shown living at Nix Cottages, Redhill Arnold, Walter is shown living a the address with his wife Annie 23 yrs (b Grantham) His occupation was roadman at the local colliery also at the address is their son Walter Edward 11 year old.
