John Henry Hallam was born in 1895 the son of Walter a sulphuric acid maker and Mary Jane Hallam née Priest of High Spannia, Kimberley. Walter was born in 1869 at Wysall, Mary Jane Priest was born in 1863 at Grantham, married on 6th May 1893 at Ilkeston they had the following children, John Henry b1895 Stapleford, their remaining children were all born in Kimberley, Elsie Elizabeth b1897, Walter Clement b1889 and Sidney Hallam b1901 In 1911, they lived on High Spannia, Kimberley, Nottinghamshire, Walter was a sulphuric acid maker and John Henry a coal miner ganger
Private John Henry Hallam enlisted at Castle Donnington whilst residing at Long Eaton. He landed in France on 1st May 1915 and he died of wounds on 25th September 1916 and is buried Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery , Bray-Sur-Somme
