Family History

George was born in 1899 in Scotter,Lincolnshire was the son of George a farmer and Lily North,(nee Barnett ) of The Green, Gringley-on-the-Hill, In the 1901 census the family are living at Corner Cottage, Northorpe, Lincolnshire his father is an agricultural labourer. In the 1911 census he is shown living with his family at Gringley on the Hill his father George was born 1869 and is a farmer , he has a sister Susan Chaotte born 1898 at Gainsborough and a brother Harold born 1908 at Gringley

Military History

George enlisted at Retford and served with the 1/9th Bn The King's (Liverpool Regiment) He became ill with broncho pneumonia and died on 29th October 1918 and is buried in Etaples Military Cemetery ,Pas De Calais grave ref no LXVI - M7.
