Family History

George William Poulson was born in 1895 at Keyworth, he was the son of John a farm engine driver and Sarah Jane Poulson née Foster of Main Road, Costock. John was born in 1865 at Radcliffe on Soar, Sarah Jane Foster was born in 1867 at Costock, they were married in 1891 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 8 children. In 1911 the family was living at Loughborough Road, East Leake, John 46 yrs is a farm engine driver he is living with his wife Sarah Jane 44 yrs and 7 of their children, George William is not shown on the 1911 census at his home address.

Military History

Private George William Poulson enlisted at West Bridgford whilst residing at Costock, he initially served with the service number 203794 in the Lincolnshire Regiment.He later transferred to the North Staffordshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 30th November 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Cambrai Memorial, Louverval, France.
