Family History

Robert is shown as being born in Nottingham, in 1894, the son of Henry and Selina Goss of 4 Hardstaff Yard, Arnold, Nottingham. In the 1911 census he is living at Hardstaff Yard where by this time his mother is a widow he is shown as a miner and also at the address are his elder sister Mary and younger brother James Gordon

Military History

He enlisted in Nottingham into the Rifle Brigade and after training was posted to the 9th Battalion, going out to France with them in the early part of 1915.Robert died in hospital at Boulogne, from his wounds on the 23rd August, 1915.
