11th Bn Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). Charles James was killed in action on 6 October 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, France (Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A).
Mansfield Reporter, 10 November 1916: ‘Suttoners Killed. Widow and Six Children Left. Private Charles James Reeves, 7, Bowne-street, Sutton, aged 22, a single man, who enlisted in the Sherwoods in September, 1914, is amongst the slain. Lance-Corporal JC Hooley, 23, Parliament-street, Sutton, 38 years of age, who enlisted in September 1914, was killed in action on October 20th.
