In 1905 Walter Wakefield married Annie [Frances] Law at Nottingham. Their children included: May Francis (b.1906) and Walter (b.1907). In 1911 the Wakefields were living with Annie’s parents, Charles and Martha Law, at 16 Moseley Street, Basford. In 1919 Annie Frances Wakefield married Stephen Thomas Wilsea at Nottingham. The post-war address given for them in the CWGC records was 6 Bedford Square, Hyson Green. Annie Francis Wilsea died at Nottingham, aged 61, in 1945.
He enlisted at Hertford; died at Salonika; buried in the Kirechkoi-Hortakoi Military Cemetery, Greece.
It has not proved possible to identify his parents. There is a Walter Wakefield whose birth was registered at Nottingham in 1884 but no one called Walter Wakefield of the right age and birthplace can be found in the 1891 or 1901 censuses. Just to add to the uncertainty about this particular individual the SDGW gives his birth place as Retford.
