Family History

Charles Henry Stevenson was born in 1887 at Radford and was the son of the late William a lace maker and Caroline Stevenson née Waplington. William was born in 1848 at Chichester Suffolk, he died in 1919 aged 71 yrs Caroline Waplington was born in 1849 in Radford she died in 1915 aged 66 yrs, they were married in 1869 at Radford and went on to have 7 children. Charles Henry married Eliza Elizabeth Ethel Stapleton Michelson (born 29th June 1894) in 1910 at Stamford, they had two children, Charles William Henry born 14th November 1911 and Emily Gladys born 4th May 1913 they lived at 1 Alice Terrace, Dorking Road, Radford. Commencing 9th April 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week, at this date she was living at 12 Waterloo Terrace, Gadd Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Private Charles Henry Stevenson enlisted at Nottingham, landing in France on 27th October 1915, he died of wounds on 17th September 1916 and is buried in Guillemont Road Cemetery, Guillemont (grave ref. I.B.13).
