William Moore

William Alfred Moore was the son of Alfred Moore and Eliza Ann Peak who married at Nottingham in 1889. Their children included: William Alfred (b.1890), Clara (b.1897) and Leonard (b.1898). The family lived at: 11 Terrace Street, Radford [C.1891]; 21 Dorking Road, Radford [C.1901]; 87 Beckenham Street, Radford [C.1911 & CWGC]. Alfred Moore, who was a lacemaker, died at Nottingham, aged 56, in 1925. His widow, Eliza Ann, died at Nottingham in 1949, aged 78. In 1909 William Alfred Moore married Rose Ellen Fearnley in the Ecclesall Bierlow registration district (near Sheffield). At the time of the 1911 census Rose Ellen Moore was living her parents and her daughter Lilian Ada (b.1910) at 91 Holme Lane Hillsborough Sheffield. They had one further child, Arthur G. (b.1913). The SDGW gives Crookes, Sheffield as William Moore’s place of residence prior to the war. In 1919 his widow married George Cooke in the Eccleshall Bierlow registration district. The couple evidently then moved away as the CWGC gave her address as 34A Stepney Bank, Newcastle on Tyne. She died in Newcastle in 1939, aged 50.
