George Lambert was born in 1881 at Nottingham and was the son of Thomas a coal miner and his first wife Jane Lambert née Clay of 1 Linnet Yard, Radford, Nottingham. His father Thomas was born in 1857 at Nottingham, he married his first wife Jane Clay born 1860 in Nottingham she died in 1886 aged 26 yrs they were married in 1876 at Nottingham and had a son John Thomas b1876 at Nottingham and George b1881 also born in Nottingham. His father Thomas married his second wife Harriett Knowles who was born in 1863 at Nottingham, she died in 1898 aged 35 yrs, they were married in 1888 at Nottingham and had the following children, Samuel b1889 and Arthur b1890 Ann b1893 and Elsie b1895 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family were living at 1 Linnet Yard Radford Nottingham and are shown as Thomas Lambert 58 yrs a coal miner shown as head of the family he is living with Emma Heal 55 yrs a lace hand (she is shown as wife but this has been crossed through ) and servant shown as relationship to head and her son John Heal 17 yrs an assistant butchers salesman and children, George Lambert 30 yrs a general labourer, Samuel Lambert 23 yrs a brick layers labourer, Arthur Lambert 21 yrs a coal miner, Ann Lambert 18 yrs a lace examiner and Elsie Lambert 16 yrs a lace examiner
Driver George Lambert enlisted at Sheffield he served with the 2nd divisional ammunition column Royal Field Artillery he was killed in action on 11th November 1917 and is buried at Vlamertinghe New Military Cemetery, Belgium.
