Harold Arthur Henson was born in 1897 at Stapleford and was the son of John Edward a tool maker and Ellen Thackery Henson née Groves of 12 Citadel Street, Radford, Nottingham. His father John Edward was born in 1874 at Eastwood, his mother Ellen Thackery Groves was born in 1874 at Nottingham, they were married in 1892 at Nottingham and had the following children, William Claude b1894, Harold Arthur b1897, Leslie Edward b1899, Gladys Agnes b1901, Lille b1906, Florence Ida b1908 and Ivy b1909 all were born in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 12 Citadel Street, Radford and are shown as John Edward 37 yrs a lace machine builder (tool maker) he is living with his wife Ellen Thackery 37 yrs and their children, William Claude 17 yrs an apprentice builder , Harold Arthur 14 yrs an apprentice, Leslie Edward 12 yrs a scholar, Gladys Agnes 10 yrs a scholar, Lille 5 yrs, Florence Ida 3 yrs and Ivy 2 yrs of age

Military History

Private Harold Henson enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 12th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 25th September 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial.
