Harold Hall was the son of William Hall and Elizabeth Whitehead who married at Nottingham in 1872. Their children included: William John (b.1873), Sarah (b.1874), Henry (b.1878), Charlotte (b.1881), Thomas (b.1884), Herbert (b.1886) and Harold (b.1888). The family lived at: 5 Redoubt Street, Radford [C.1911]; 94 Miall Street, Old Radford [C.1901]; 14 Bright Street, Radford [C.1911]; Bright Street, Radford [CWGC]. William Hall who was initially a brick maker [C.1891 & C.1901] but later a wagon repairer at a local colliery [C.1911], died at Nottingham in 1914, aged 63. When his wife, Elizabeth died has not yet been ascertained. A few months after the 1911 census was undertaken Harold Hall married Florence Mason at Nottingham. They had four children: Harold (b.1911), Florence May (b.1914/d.1915), and Richard F. (b.1916). His widow lived at 6 Pleasant Place Whitemoor Road, Old Basford [Army records/1919 & CWGC]. In 1920 Florence Hall married Samuel Hollyhead at Nottingham. She died at Nottingham, aged 71 in 1963.
Enlisted at Nottingham on 18 May 1915; embarked for France 6 March 1916; died from his wounds yet his body was subsequently not recovered; so his name was added to the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
