Military History

Corporal James Charles Doughty enlisted at Nottingham, he was a career soldier, in 1911 with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters in barracks at Crownhill, Devon, he served with the service number 10342 in the Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire) Regiment. He later transferred to the 63rd company Machine Gun Corps. He was killed in action on 6th October 1917 and is buried in Outtersteene Communal Cemetery Extension, Bailleul, France
