Family History

Albert Davis was the son of Albert Davis and Selina Lowe/Law, who married at Nottingham in 1886. Among their children were: Ada Jane (b.1887), Joe Walter (b.1888), Albert (b.1890), Edith Anne (b.1892), Mary H. (b.1897) and Daisy (b.1898) (sometimes their birth is registered under ‘Davies’). Their eldest child Minnie Davis Lowe (b.1885) was actually born before they were married. The family have not been located in the 1911 census so there may have been more children. The addresses from the two earlier censuses were: 18 Ledger Street, Radford [C.1891]; 34 Gate Street, Radford [C.1901]. It is likely that Selina Davis died at Nottingham, aged 48, in 1914. Albert Davis, who was a colliery fireman, probably died at Nottingham, aged 73/74 in 1940/41. On 18 March 1916 Albert Davis married Hilda Davis at Radford All Souls Church. Albert gave his occupation as ’soldier.’ The address given for both of them was 37 Bulwer Road. Hilda Davis may have subsequently married Willie Godfrey at Nottingham in 1920. If so, she probably died at Nottingham, aged 92, in 1984.
