Family History

Harry Blaze Brammer was the son of George William Brammer and Mary Alice Blaze who married at Nottingham in 1882. They had eight children, five of whom were alive at the time of the 1911 census. These were: Alice May (b.1883), William Thomas (b.1886), Harry Blaze (b.1889), Arthur Wilson (b.1893) and Hilda (b.1900). Their various family homes in Radford included: 3 Beresford Street [C.1891]; 280 Ilkeston Road [C.1901]; 166 Radford Boulevard [C.1911]. Mary Alice Brammer died in Nottingham, aged 57, in 1917. George William Brammer, a brass and rolled steel maker, moved to Birmingham as the CWGC gives his home address as 2 Oxford Terrace, Bradford Road, Bordesley, Birmingham. However he had returned to Nottingham by the time he died, aged 73, in 1928.

Military History

Pte. Brammer volunteered for service and enlisted in Nottingham. Following training he was drafted to France, arriving on 26/05/1915. The battalion was in the line in the Arras area, and Pte. Brammer was killed in action there on 04/10/1915. He was buried at Arras Road Cemetery, Roclincourt.
