Guy Rerendui Dunlop
After school, Guy Dunlop attended Massey Agricultural College and obtained a Diploma of Agriculture and he was employed in farming.
His interests were rugby, hunting and tennis.

Guy Dunlop was the son of Reginald Crauford Dunlop and Kate Annie Dunlop, of Matamata, Auckland, New Zealand. Guy's grandparents had emigrated to New Zealand from Ayrshire, Scotland in 1855. He enjoyed a carefree childhood with his two brothers and three sisters.

Pilot
He enlisted in the NZAF in 1942 and a year later was posted to the Elementary Flying School at Harewood and, in May 1943, he embarked for Alberta, Canada. He learned to fly Avro Ansons before leaving for England in October. A spell flying Oxfords at Croughton, Northamptonshire followed and in June 1944 he went to 10 OTU at Abingdon where he met his crew. Guy was promoted to Pilot Officer in August 1944 and, a month later he transferred to 1669 HCU at Langar (Notts) where he converted to Halifaxes. On November 20th his crew moved to 5 Lancaster Finishing School (LFS) at Syerston. He amassed 451 hours as a pilot.
Despthe bitterly cold January 1945 weather, Guy generously donated his clothing coupons to his navigator Peter Hill who hads no gloves.
Guy's memory lives on through many male relatives named after him including Guy 'Rollo' Dunlop.
