According to Army Records possibly a Lieutenant with the Sherwood foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment but he is also listed as a Captain, RAF in 1914 but that isn't possible as the RAF wasn't formed until the 1st April 1918 so more likely attached to the Royal Flying Corps as a Captain (Pilot), he is also listed as a Lieutenant, 3rd Battalion, Sherwood Foresters, Notts. & Derby Regiment in 1916.
