
Frederick Alan Nelson
He was educated at West Bridgford School and University College Nottingham where he obtained a Diploma in Textiles and was listed as a 'Textile Technician (Khate Factory)' in 1939. He was interested in all sports and had been an enthusiastic member of Old West Bridgfordians Hockey Club for some years.

He was the son of Frederick William and Lilian Measures Nelson and the brother of Sinia Nelson of 31, Trent Boulevard, West Bridgford Nottingham.

Sergeant F A Nelson: killed; aircraft accident north west of Bognor Regis, Sussex; Spitfire P8434, 616 Squadron, 21 July 1941. Marigold’s Farm. Escort shot up by Me109 and went into the sea off Worthing. He had been on a raid over northern France led by (then Squadron Leader) Douglas Bader.
