Thomas Dolman was born in 1898 at Lincoln and was the son of Charles a school caretaker and police pensioner and Ann Elizabeth Dowman née Scholes of Harby His father Charles was born in 1861 at Riseholme, Lincolnshire his mother Annie Elizabeth Scholes was born in 1862 at Lincoln they were married in 1895 at Lincoln and had a further child, Charles William Dowman born 1897 at Lincoln. In the 1911 census the family are living at Harby and are shown as Charles 51 yrs a school caretaker and police pensioner, he is living with his wife Annie Elizabeth 49 yrs and their children Charles William 14 yrs an apprentice market gardener and Thomas 13 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Thomas Dowman enlisted at Grantham whilst residing at Harby, he served with the 10th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed in action on 9th April 1917 and is buried at Bailleul Road East Cemetery Pas de Calais France Grave Reference: 1.C.3
