Family History

He was the son of Arthur and Emily Murfet, of 35 Alfred Street South, Nottingham. At the time of the 1911 census his parents were living at 37 Alfred Street with their sons George (18) and Herbert (16).

Military History

He was reported missing on 15 September but his death was not confirmed until August the following year. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial

Nottingham Post obituary (abridged), 17 August 1917: 'Private H Murfet (Sherwood Foresters), 35 Alfred Street South, Nottingham, missing September 15th [1916] now reported killed, age 21.'
