Henry Wyer (junior) was born in 1880 at Nottingham, he was the son of Henry Wyer (senior) a lace worker and Annie Marie Wyer née Holmes of 10 Cheltenham Street, Basford. Henry Wyer (senior) was born in 1851 at Knesall, Nottinghamshire, Annie Marie Holmes was born in 1856 at Cinderhill, they were married in 1872 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 10 children sadly two died in infancy or early childhood. Henry Wyer (junior) married Blache Edith Heyburn (born 11th August 1886) on 28th May 1906, they were married in St Barnabus Church, Finsbury, London. they had two children, Almedia Elizabeth born 12th June 1906 and Fred Henry Thomas born 3rd December 1911. In 1911 Henry Wyer (junior) is living at 6 Westville Road, Shepherds Bush, London, Henry is 30 yrs and is a labourer, he is living with his wife Blanche Edith 25 yrs and their daughter Almedia 4 yrs of age. Commencing 4th April 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week. His widow re married on 28th May 1917 to Robert Ashton, they lived in London.

Military History

Private Henry Wyer enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Grenadier Guards he landed in France on 22nd January 1915. He was killed in action on 13th September 1916, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France.
