Alfred Clark

Alfred Clark was born in 1891 in Horbling, Lincolnshire and was the son of John Thomas a farm labourer and Fanny Clark née Casswell 7 Wentworth Terrace. His father John Thomas was born in 1852 in Market Rasen, Lincolnshire and his mother Fanny Casswell was born in 1852 in Billingborough, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1873 in the Boston registration district, they went on to have 9 children, sadly three of whom died in infancy or early childhood prior to 1911, their children recorded in the 1891/1901/1911 censes were John W b1885, George b1881, Elizabeth A b1885, Thomas b1888, Alfred Christopher b1891 all of whom were born in Horbling Lincolnshire. In the 1911 census the family are living at Horbling Folkingham, Lincolnshire and are shown as John Thomas 58 yrs a farm labourer , he is living with his wife Fanny 59 yrs and their son Alfred Christopher 19 yrs a clogg maker for miners boots. In 1913 he was married in Nottingham to Gertrude Key (born 19th March 1890 ) they lived at 7 Wentworth Terrace, Forest Road West, Nottingham they went on to have 2 children Gertrude Elizabeth born 3rd June 1913 and Alfred William born 14th February 1915. Following his death his widow Gertrude was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 11 pence a week which commenced on 7th January 1918.
