Family History

James Bradley (junior) was born in 1894 at Clifton and was the son of James Bradley (senior) a baker and Hannah Bradley née Richards of Clifton, Nottingham. His father James (senior) was born in 1854 at Clifton, his mother Hannah Richards was born in 1855 at Keyworth, they were married in 1878 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham registration district, they went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Clifton, they were William 1879, John Henry 1881, Annie Louise b1881, Edith b1884, Samuel b1888 and James b1894. In the 1911 census the family are living at Clifton village Nottingham and are shown as James 57 yrs a baker, he is living with his wife Hannah 56 yrs and their children, Samuel Richards 23 yrs a clerk and James 17 yrs a junior clerk at a money society.

Military History

Gunner James Bradley enlisted at Derby whilst residing at Clifton, he served with the 224th siege battery Royal Garrison Artillery, he died of wounds on 22nd July 1918 and is buried at Bagneux British Cemetery grave reference 3.D.16
