John Thomas Cooper was born in 1884 at Balderton, his sole legatee in the soldiers effects register is Hannah Jane Reek (nee Cooper ) she lived at Hough Lane, Lowdham in the 1911 census and is married to Grossitt Reek she is shown as being 54 yrs and is living with her husband Grossitt Reek 55 yrs a farm labourer, they are living with their daughter Mabel Reek 11 yrs of age In the 1901 census John Thomas is living at Main Street, Lowdham, he is shown as being 16 yrs a boarder and an assistant baker, he is living with Thomas Pailing 59 yrs a wheelwright and baker and his family
Private John Thomas Cooper enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Epperstone, he served with the 2nd battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He was killed in action on 10th October 1918 and is buried at Brancourt-Le-Grand Military Cemetery, France. Row A. Grave 15.
