William Percy Sharrock was born in 1899 at Bulwell, he was the son of the late Richard a colliery clerk and Rebecca Sharrock née Caunt of 15 Coventry Road, Bulwell, his father Richard was born in 1864 at Hindley, Lancashire, he died in 1916 at Nottingham aged 62 yrs, his mother Rebecca Caunt was born in 1869 at Bulwell, they were married in 1892 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had 7 children. In the 1911 census the family are living at 15 Coventry Road, Bulwell, Richard 47 yrs is a colliery clerk, he is living with his wife Rebecca 42 yrs and their children Charles 14 yrs a plumbers apprentice, William Percy 12 yrs a scholar, Margaret 17 yrs a lace finisher, Annie 16 yrs a chemist packer, Edna 6 yrs and Mary 4 years of age.

Military History

Gunner William Percy Sharrock enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 48th siege battalion, Royal Garrison Artillery, he was killed in action on 23rd July 1917 and is buried at Canada Farm Cemetery, Belgium.
