Family History

Eustace Bernard Shipstone Cattle was born in 1895 at Nottingham, he was the son of Frederick Catlle a solicitor and Caroline Moore née Shipstone of Ravenswood, Heanor, Derbyshire. His father Frederick was born in 1866 at Worksop, his mother Caroline Shipstone was born in 1865 at Basford, they were married in 1890 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had two further children, Phyllis Helen born 1891 and John Henry Nightingale born 1892. In the 1901 census the children are living at Ravenswood, Heanor with 3 servants including a governess and 2 domestic servants.

Military History

Second Lieutenant Eustace Bernard Shipstone Cattle served with the 1/5th battale York and Lancaster Regiment, he was killed in action on 7th July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
