Family History

Father: Frank Wolfe, born in 1859 in Nottingham and working as a boatman. Mother: Sarah Wolfe, born in 1856 at Bleasby, Nottinghamshire and working as a lever clerk. Brothers: Frank Merchant Wolfe, born in 1883 and working as a lever clerk and George, born in 1891 and working as a warehouseman. Sisters: Kate Ethel, born in 1882 and working as a waitress in a tea room, and later a warehouse cleaner. All the children were born in Nottingham and the family lived at 3 Holland Terrace, Ashling Street, meadow Lane, Nottingham before moving to 53 Sutton Street, Nottingham.

Military History

Pte. Wolfe was called up for service and following training he was drafted to France. His battalion was involved in the fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres and he was killed in action. His body was never found, but his name was commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial.
