Percy Faulkner was born in 1897, he was baptised on 31st January 1897 at Forestside, Sussex. He was the son of Walter a game keeper and Alice Maud Faulkner née Easton of Keeper's Cottage Carlton-on-Trent Newark. His father Walter was born in 1866 at Slindon, Sussex, Alice Maud Easton was born in 1863 at Canterbury, Kent, they were married in 1889 their marriage was recorded in the Alton, Hampshire registration district, they went on to have 5 Children. In 1911 the family are living at 5 East Street, Littlehampton, Walter 44 yrs is a game keeper, he is living with his wife Alice Maud 48 yrs and two of their children, Reginald 10 yrs and Alfred 8 yrs of age. in 1911 Percy has left the family home, he is living at 23 St Dunstan Street, Canterbury he is shown as being 14 yrs and working in newspaper printing , he is living with his uncle and aunt, Thomas Easton 83 yrs a boot repairer and Ann Eliza Easton 81 yrs.
Private Percy Faulkner enlisted at Southwell, he served with 1/8th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, Nottinghamshire, went to France 28th June 1915 and was killed in action 4th March 1917, age 20, whilst moving forward to take over old German front line trenches, during which the Germans launched a counter-attack. He is buried at Foncquevillers Military Cemetery, France. Plot 2. Row D. Grave 7.
