Frederick Robert was born in 1889 in Lambeth London and he was the son of George William and Emma Elizabeth Minns née Hudson. His father George William was born in 1857 in Lambeth and his mother Emma Elizabeth Hudson was born in 1863 in Norfolk , they were married on 5th September 1880 in London , they went on to have 10 children , sadly 3 of whom died in infancy, their surviving children were : - Sarah Elizabeth b1882, George William b1884, James Alfred b1885, John Henry b1887, Frederick Robert b1889, Albert Edward b1894 and Edward Ernest b1897 all the children were born in London Frederick Robert was the husband of Kate Brooks whom he married at St Stephens Church, Nottingham on 8th October 1910 , they went on to have three children , Frederick Robert born 27th March 1911 and Ernest born 20th June 1914. Albert Minns born 1917 . In the 1911 census he is living at 481 Berridge Road, Hyson Green, Nottingham he is shown as being 22 yrs and a dyers labourer , he is living with his wife Kate 22 yrs and their son Frederick Robert a month old. At time of Frederick's death his family was living at 42 Grundy Street Alfreton Road Nottingham and, following Ada's marriage to John Fletcher in 1918, at 18 Mount Street New Basford Nottingham.
Private Frederick Robert Minns, initially attested on 26th December 1914 at Nottingham , he gave his age as 26 yrs and 3 months his address as 483 Berridge Road, Hyson Green, Nottingham, his next of kin was his wife Kate of the same address , he was a dyers labourer he was posted to the Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He served for 65 days and on 3rd March 1915 he was discharged from the Army as not likely to become an efficient soldier under Kings Regulations 392. He later rejoined and served with the 6/7th Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers, he was killed in action on 11th December 1917. He is buried in Level Crossing Cemetery, Fampoux, grave Reference: 2 C 46

Minns, Royal Scottish Fusiliers, killed in action 11th December 1917. Gone, but not forgotten.
