Henry Alfred Dickinson

Henry Alfred Dickinson (known as Alf) was born in 1883 at Basford and was the son of William a lace maker and Sarah Dickinson née Marsh of 12 Alberta Terrace, Sherwood Rise,Nottingham. His father William was born in 1846 at Basford, his mother Sarah Marsh was born in 1846 at Hoveringham, they were married in 1868 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they had the following children, Elizabeth b1870, Lydia b1879, Samuel b1876, Hannah b1881, Henry b1883, Joseph b1885 and Sarah b1887 all were born in Basford. In the 1911 census Henry has left his parents address and is living at 201 New Village, Bolsover, Derbyshire, he is shown as being 29 yrs of age, single and a coal miner, he is one of three boarders living at the address with Maria Oakland 50 yrs a widow. In the same 1911 census his parents are living at 12 Alberta Terrace, Sherwood Rise and are shown as William 65 yrs a lace maker, he is living with his wife Sarah 65 yrs and their daughters Lydia 37 yrs working at home and Hannah 30 yrs a machinist. Henry Alfred married his wife Johanna Maud (born 22nd September 1881) they lived at 31 London Road, Acton Vale London, his wife had brought a child to their marriage Arthur born 15th July 1904, they had the following children, Henrietta May born 21st June 1912, Florence Eva born 30th December 1913 and Charles Alfred born 15th February 1915, Following his death his widow Johanna Maud was awarded a pension of 33 shillings and 9 pence a week which commenced on 23rd June 1919
