Francis George Laughton was born in 1896 in Walesby and was the son of Francis a farmer and Mary E Laughton of Walesby , his was the brother of Mary J B1890 Walesby and Agnes M b1892 Walesby

Military History

Private Francis George Laughton attested on 17th February 1916 at Retford, giving his age as 20 yrs and 8 months and his address as Walesby near Ollerton, he gave his occupation as that of a farmer and his next of kin as his father Francis of the same address. He was posted to the reserves on the following day. He was mobilised for war on 17th January 1917 and posted to the 6th battalion York & Lancaster Regiment. He landed in France on 2nd August 1917 and was wounded on 16th March 1918 by a gun shot wound to his left arm. He was killed in action on the 16th April 1918 having no known grave his name is commemorated in Cambrin Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France.
