He was the eldest son of David and Emma Mitchell and the brother of Arthur, Clarice and Lilian Mitchell. In 1911 they lived at 7 Hart Street New Lenton Nottingham. He was the husband of Minnie (née Statham) Mitchell who lived at 17 Hart Street.
He died in hospital in Germany.
