Sidney Kent was born in 1898 at Nottingham, he was the son of the late Charles Kent a coal miner loader and Hannah Marie Kent née Boyington of 360 Radford Road, Nottingham. His father Charles was born in 1870 at Northamptn, he died in 1916 aged 46 yrs, his mother Hannah Marie Boyington was born in 1879 at Nottingham, they were married on 18th August 1895 at St Stephens Church, Nottingham, they went on to have 7 children, sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family are living at 25 Warwick Street, Abbey Road, Lenton, Nottingham, Charles 41 yrs is a coal miner loader, he is living with his wife Hannah Marie 32 yrs and their children, Charles Thomas 15 yrs a picture framer, Sidney 13 yrs a schoolboy, Ernest 3 yrs, Harry 8 months, Doris 8 yrs Winifred 3 yrs and HarriettKent 70 yrs a widow his mother a visitor .

Military History

Private Sidney Kent enlisted at Nottingham, he served with the 1/7th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 21st November 1915 and is buried at St Vaast Post Military Cemetery, France.
