Family History

George was born in 1886 the son of John a railway flagman and Ann Brewster (née Hopewell). His father born in 1862 at Bingham, his mother in 1865 at Cotgrave. Married in 1883, they had thirteen children, ten surviving infancy - William b.1884 , Henry b.1890, George b.1886, John b.1894, Annie b.1897, Mabel b.1899, Florence b.1899, Frank b.1904, Emily b.1906 and Mary b.1909. In 1911, they lived at Harlequin, Radcliffe on Trent, John 49 yrs is a railway flagman he is living with his wife Annie 47 yrs and 8 of their children, George is 25 yrs and is a soldier.

Military History

George Brewster served with 12th Siege Battery Royal Garrison Artillery as a regular soldier before the outbreak of war. He landed in France on 8th March 1915 and is buried in Bronfay Farm Military Cemetery, Bray-sur-Somme. Grave Reference II A 17
