Family History

Thomas Edward Thompson was born in 1887 in Broadholme, Nottinghamshire and was the only son of Thomas a farmer and Fanny Thompson née Wilkinson. His father Thomas was born in 1852 In Partington, Yorkshire, his mother Fanny Wilkinson was born in 1846 in Saxilby, Lincolnshire, they were married at Holy Trinity Church Hull on 9th January 1876 and went on to have the following children , Elizabeth b1877 Partington, Sarah b1879 Thorningumbold, Lillian Mary b1882 Burswick, Rosamond b1885 Broadholme, Thomas Edward b1887 Broadholme and Alice b1891 Broadholme. In the 1911 census Thomas is shown as being 24 yrs single and a joiner , he is living with his uncle and aunt Robert and Eunice Higginbotham at 12 Monson Street, Lincoln.

Military History

Sapper Thomas Edward Thompson enlisted at Lincoln giving his place of residence as Saxilby, Lincolnshire. He served with the 76th Field Coy, Royal Engineers and was killed in action on 6th August 1917. H was buried in Bleuet Farm Cemetery, Belgium, grave reference I.E.21
