Family History

Frank Hinchliff was born in 1885 at Sutton on Trent and was the son of the late John an agricultural labourer and Mary Hinchliff, née Hayes of Sutton-on-Trent. His father John was born in 1820 at Ossington and died in 1898 aged 78 yrs , his mother Mary Hayes was born in 1840 at Eakring she died in 1900 aged 60 yrs, they were married in 1864 and went on to have the following children, Levi b1866, Joseph b1868, Samuel b1870, Enoch b1872, Charles b1879 and Frank b1885, all were born in Sutton Trent.

Military History

Private Frank Hinchliff served with the 2/6th battalion Sherwood Foresters and was killed in action on 21st March 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Arras Memorial. Pas de Calais, France.
