Family History

George Henry Burgess was born in 1885 at Hemingby, Lincolnshire and was the son of the late William and Hannah Burgess née Dabb of Bletchford , Horncastle. His father William was born in 1855 at Hatton, Lincolnshire, he died in 1910 at Horncastle, aged 56 yrs, his mother Hannah Dabb was born in 1855 at Bletchford, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1879 at Horncaslte and went on to have the following children all of whom were born in Hemingby, Sarah Jane b1881, John William b1883, George Henry b1885, Charles b1886, Robert b1888, Mary Ann b1890 and Lizzie b1896. In the 1911 census his mother and siblings are living at Blectchford, Horncaste and are shown as Hannah Burgess 56 yrs a widow, she is living with her children, Charles 25 yrs a farm labourer, Robert 23 yrs a farm labourer and Lizzie 15 yrs. In the same 1911 census we find that George Henry Burgess has left the family home and is living at Common Farm, Sutton on Trent, he is shown as being 26 yrs single a horseman on the farm and is one of three servants living with Thomas Wakefield 74 yrs a farmer and his wife Frances Wakefield.
